Honestly, considering the cost of it, the features it offers, and the simplicity in use, newbies have nothing more to desire for their first tries in this hobby. Maybe the Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro won’t allow you to find lost chests with Civil War Gold immediately, but at least you won’t be pissed off by dozens of settings.

One of the most important features of this tool is that it has enough functions to enable the user to spot different types of objects. Those who has already purchased this model claim it is super handy and efficient for their level. At the same time, this metal detector is very easy to set and use; in fact, even children will be able to learn and cope with it quickly.

Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro Key Features

VLF Technology

Generates an electromagnetic field that applies a continuous sinusoidal wave to the ground searched by the metal detector.

DD Coil

The most effective shape of the coil, especially for detecting on mineralized and littered grounds.

Pinpoint

A tool for accurate identification of the spotted object, to prevent it from damage or loss.

Fixed Ground Balance

Computerized Ground Grab Technology for increased depth of reach regardless of the level of mineralization.

Notch Discrimination

Precise Notch Discrimination is all about effective filtering out signals from items made of certain metals. The detectorist can control what the machine sees, exactly, and avoid wasting their time on targets useless for them.

Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro Overview

Being easy to set and use immediately, this Bounty Hunter metal detector has a bunch of positive feedback from the buyers, which indicates very decent quality as for the newbie metal detector. Many experts even state is should be listed as the top tool for beginners’ level. It is good both for learning the basics, with the goal in mind to gain more advanced skills with time, and also good for just having some fun from time to time if you happen to visit an interesting location.

This tool was manufactured by the First Texas Products company, which means it meets American standards of quality. It has to be underlines that some of its machines are pretty similar to the ones by Fisher. This very model is comparatively new, it was presented to the market in 2014, so it mostly contains recent technologies, even despite being pretty simple as if compared to professional machines.

Overall, the tool is cool to use, has a well-thought-out design, which is no surprise since it is a flagship model in the series; most newbies will find it convenient, affordable, and effective in the field. To get more insights into it, check the new features, and also pros and cons, to make an informed decision.

Search Modes

The peculiarities of all those regimes is that the first three are pre-set, and there is no option for manual ground balance setting. If you are on a location full of iron, the noise of the metal detector will just drive you crazy; in this case, it is better to turn on the jewelry regime.

The three other regimes just give you options on how to make the machine react to the objects. With time, you will get used to the variety of signals, and all this stuff will be mush easier to interpret.

The All Metal mode is the most interesting one to use, because it spots all possible targets. It also uses only one single tone, and the biggest depth of reach, which means no object will avoid your attention. However, it is better to turn it on only in places without metal trash, otherwise you’ll spend the whole weekend digging out bottle caps. This is good for the environment, of course, but not very satisfying.

As for the search modes, this machine offers quite a bunch if we recall that this is a noob-oriented device. So, in fact you get seven search regimes, and here they are:

All Metal

This mode suggests zero discrimination in order to help the machine react to all kinds of metals and all types of objects that contact with the coil’s electric field.

Coins

The best combination of settings to find some coins. This type of object is the most frequent one, and yet, not each frequency of the device works with coils effectively enough.

Jewelry

It is always nice to find a golden ring or a necklace, but not all modes show golden targets properly.

Relics

If you are crazy about all this ancient stuff, the relics mode is your one and only love. it will get you more finds than any other.

Programs: 2, 3, 4

These programs will help you to set up the metal detector at two tones, three tones, four tones of audio.

Interesting Features

It is hard to state the tool has “new” features being released in 2014, and obviously nothing over the top innovative was added to the on-budget noob-friendly tool. However, there are peculiarities one has to keep in mind about this item.

The item has a classic design, and is not in any terms heavy – its weight is only 2.5 lbs (1.1 kgs), which is super easy to carry. This is one of the reasons why it is so suitable for newbies and also kids; it makes little sense walking with a metal detector less than two or three hours, because you are unlikely to immediately hit an interesting target. However, those not used to working with such a tool get tired very quickly. Small weight of the tool prevents it and allows to learn slowly.

The most outstanding thing about this item is that it offers cool usability for noobs within a reasonable price, so consider it for buying if you need a reliable machine.

Features

To be totally, inside and out, informed about the Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro, you need to know about all its features. So, as it was already said, the item was released in 2014, is pretty lightweight, and has 7 search modes. The shaft length is adjustable. The performance frequency is 7,69 kHz, which is a bit weird as it is not the universal one, but it is also the most frequently used for newbie machines.

The coil is DD and 11 inches, which is cool since no other item within this price offers a DD coil. The control box is standard, but is not fixed with a screw to the shaft, which is a drawback. The device is powered by a 9V battery, but keep in mind that, like all other detectors, it works worse with rechargeable batteries. You should buy headphones for treasure hunting with this item, because headphones make signal more clear.

The device also has Pinpoint regime, which is awesome since it enables the user to locate the finds more clearly. You won’t have to dig the Suez Canal to get a coin out. However, some users claim that with time, the Pinpoint button breaks and the mode switches off on its own.

Ground balance is another feature to discuss about this detector. There are both automatic and manual settings, and you can adjust the feature just by pushing the corresponding button. But remember that manual setting of ground balance is not available in all modes.

The Kit

The kit is pretty simple for this one:

And that’s all.

Conclusion

The Bounty Hunter Land Ranger Pro metal detector is a cool tool to begin with in the treasure hunting hobby. It is good for those who has a goal to enhance their skills with time, and also for those who just wants to have fun metal detecting. This item is one of the top in the beginners’ category, combining an awesome set of features with an affordable price.
